Lily’s Clinical Interests

Ob-Gyn Bound

Lily has found her calling Obstetrics and Gynecology, a speciality where she revels in the perfect balance between medicine and surgery. She finds vaginal and cesarean births equally beautiful in their own rights, is enamored by both the simple and complex gynecological procedures, and loves all aspect of reproductive health.

Lily has taken a keen interest in maternal fetal medicine and aim to use computational and molecular biology to dissect the pathophysiology of common obstetric complications such as hypertensive diseases of pregnancy, fetal growth restriction, and premature labor. Her long-term goal is to have an R01-funded lab conducting basic and clinical research in reproductive sciences while being well-train to care for patients with complex obstetrics conditions.

Patient Advocacy

Lily chose to completed her longitudinal clinical clerkship at Denver Health, the largest safety net hospital in the state of Colorado. With this curriculum, she discovered a newfound passion for advocacy while learning how to provide the best medical care for the most vulnerable. As a first-generation daughter of immigrants, college graduate, and future physician, she held this experience dear to her heart.

She sought out opportunities to testify for state bills supporting different aspects of health care and worked with other graduate and medical students to develop advocacy workshops. She aspires to continue this important advocacy work in the wonderful field that is obstetrics and gynecology.

IRB Approvals

Lily has written and obtained two IRB research protocols: one to access TCGA raw data for a custom bioinformatics pipeline, and another to collect fresh ovarian tissue to test G-CSF protection of primary follicles from chemotherapy. She was the principal investigator for the former study and collaborated with Dr. Leslie Appiah for the latter. Lily worked with IRB team to ensure that the protocols address key scientific questions while meeting institutional requirements. She is prepared to write, submit, and complete future IRB protocols during residency, fellowship, and beyond.
